Silversmith: Edmond Tetard (EDT), Paris c. 1880-1903. Minerve #1: French guarantee mark for .950/1000 pure silver, finest in the world chocolate pot or for your tea/coffee; wooden side handle in the style of 18th chocolate pots!

I love these "tete-a-tete" sized pots, either as a full service for two or as in this case, one piece from a larger tea/coffee service in which it might have been the rather large hot water or milk verseuse. They're perfect as gifts along with a selection of tea bags, or to grace your own silver tray at breakfast or beside your favorite reading chair, along with your cup and saucer. The pot is by a very well regarded 19th century silversmith, Edmond Tetard (EDT), Paris c. 1880-1903, and the silversmith's punch mark is shown in the images above, it's a clear mark, easy to distinguish as Tetard's. Also on the lid and base is the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means it's in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). A gorgeous Louis XVI or rococo style with rocaille ornamentation around the base and neck, laurel garland accenting the spout and that lovely spiraled body. A stunning piece, don't miss it!

Very good to excellent. The pot is in fine condition for age and type, without much by way of surface abrasion from use, even. One smallish dent on the back side to a raised edge of one spiral, not all that noticeable though. You'll love using this one! The tete-a-tete pot is 8.75" tall, has a 3 3/4" wooden handle (handle length with silver fitting is 5 1/8"). The spout has a self-cover, and the hinged lid fits smoothly and well. Elegant form throughout.

Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
