We have a couple of these at listing time, the smaller of those shown in our final photo is offered separately so look for it, too. This one is that extra large 19.5" x 16" one and it's 2" thick. Carved to be worked into a wall of paneling, these date 1700s to early 1800s and are fabulous accents for your own cabinetry (customize with appliqué - easy), or to hang as wall decoration.
Good to very good condition for age and type. The old beauty is hand carved, entirely made of wood, in very nice condition for age and type. The only thing keeping it from rating an excellent in our standard is that it does have some old tiny wood worm holes. This is very typical of the old French wood items and of course the infestation has done little damage here - nothing spongy, nothing active. It was treated long long ago. More modern furnishing trying to capture the old French charm actually drill and/or paint the tiny dots on to get the feel of old wood. Here you have the real thing. Look it over in our photos to see what we mean. Otherwise, I find no chips, no cracks, loss and no restorations to note. A gorgeous old beauty, isn't it!
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
