With a mirror set beautifully in the door, an attractive lighter wood finish and natural or carved faux bamboo, this Napoleon III era miniature would have been the delight of some doll owner or collector. Now, of course, these old pieces are wonderful and sought after to group on a buffet top, or to house and show off collections of small, and of course the doll collectors beg for them, as well. Not so long ago, a single small desk we noted sold to doll collectors for over $10,000 (not ours, but sold at auction). This one not of that more rare quality but delightful nonetheless. These can accent display of your own Bru or other French or European dolls, or delight a favored child who just wants Barbie to have her own antique-decorated showhouse. Aren't they fun! We have more charming small items of furniture coming in soon, as well as a few now listed. Be sure to see them all.
Very good condition. Just as you see it, with hardly a flaw to note or sign of its nearly 100 years or so. This one appears to have carved wood made to look like bamboo but the tip left side has a genuine bamboo section, a restoration most likely (visible in the images). The mirror is a flat panel, not beveled, and may be a replacement. Also, there is some staining inside the drawer and an age/drying split on the back wood panel. See pictures for all measurements.
