Fabulous antique to vintage Italian hallmarked .800 or nearly sterling silver confiturier or drageoir, a covered serving piece with figural side handles & finial and wonderful condition! A lovely example of a very French serving piece that is made specifically for serving sweets or jam. In fact, the word "confiturier" translates as 'jam-producing'. The hallmarks are Italian and date from the early to mid 1900s. Thick and heavy, the piece weighs just under ten troy ounces! The other marking designated the piece as being in .800 silver, or 80% pure so it's just under the .925 standard for sterling silver. Nice size, wonderful condition and a truly impressive piece, visually and style & craftsmanship. Don't miss it!
Very good-excellent condition. A very slight bend in the base rim but there are no dents that I can see, do other damage and no repairs. See pictures for weight and measurements.
