Wonderful antique Victorian to Edwardian era Black Forest hand carved 22.5" wall barometer & thermometer with ornate pierced or reticulated foliate carvings and lovely hunt influences with hunting dog finial and floral accents! Entirely hand carved, these date from the late 1800s to early 1900s and this is one of three fine old Black Forest barometers that we're adding this week. This a truly fabulous piece with the trophy style bust of the hunting dog at the top, leaves and sinuous vines down the case and floral accents at the sides. The barometer dial is in French, the thermometer is mounted on the original enamel on copper or metal plaque. A wonderful decorative piece, beautiful darker patina and guaranteed to please!
Very good-excellent condition. Possibly a tiny nip to a leaf or tendril tip but, as you can see, the carved case is really in wonderful shape! The barometer appears to be in fine working order (though we've not tested it). The thermometer has no breaks or damage but I'm unsure if it is working. There are two re-glued age or drying cracks on the left side of the barometer housing, the circular piece of wood into which the barometer itself is mounted. See pictures for all measurements.
