I've pulled everything out of my antique furs storage, after seeing so much fur trim this year in fashions of Europe, pages of Vogue, etc., and here's one of the loveliest of the bunch: a lush thick and long red sable, is it, or is it maybe fox? It has the feel of heavy lush mink, but long fur - I'm not a fur expert, so am not quite sure if it is sable or fox or a reddish mink, but I can tell you that it is really large, puffy, and gorgeous! There are no spots of missing or thinned fur, and no holes or damage to that 30" x 15" panel of fur that went into making this fine old muff. It's an Edwardian piece, and the brown silk interior lining is apart in some spots, and will need to be reworked if you decide you just MUST use it. I know you're going to be tempted to take it apart and trim out something else with it, but when you get it and see how wonderful it is as a muff, I think you might just decide to reline the interior, which doubles as a purse, and go all 'Dr. Zivago' this winter. Isn't it a rave!
