I don't think I've ever seen a rhino carved in one of these old meerschaum pipes, and I have to tell you, I don't think the artisan who carved this one had ever seen one, either. The armored hide looks like a suit of armor on this one, complete with a bow-tie styled collar of sorts, but it's still charming a scan be. Tip of his horn is missing, but otherwise the pipe and case are all in fine condition. Some evidence of it having been lighted but not much - probably only once. Some dust showing up in our enlarged images, sorry. Great little fellow, a great addition to your collection of figural pipes, perhaps? Measurements of case are 5" long, 2" high and 1 3/8" deep. Pipe is 4.5" long, 1.5" tall and 1" deep.
Very good condition, with a single flaw to note: tip of rhino's horn is missing. Otherwise, both case and pipe are in excellent condition.
