Fabulous antique 19th century European .800 silver double inkwell stand with magnificent repousse and two stunning Bohemian layered & wheel cut glass wells! I was just sure this one was sterling silver from the feel and weight of the piece but my testing kit only revealed that the content is at least .800. Unfortunately, I'm not quite an expert with the kit yet so we know that it is silver but I can't tell you definitively where it is between .800 and sterling silver :). With that in mind, you can see how beautiful the work is! Relatively thin pressed repousse and the detail is wonderful, right down to the scrolled feet! I can't find any hallmarks but the Bohemian glass wells lead me to think that it's of eastern European origins. Speaking of the wells, aren't they GREAT! Thick layered white on clear glass with wheel cut patterns and gilt enamel accenting.....can't think of a better set for this beautiful stand. As found, a stunning set and sure to please!
Good-very good condition. I'm sure that the wells had lids of some sort, whether they were silver to match the stand or layered glass I don't know. There is one or two very minor bends in the silver base but no breaks or repairs. A few small nips to the inkwells. See pictures for measurements.
