Fabulous & rare 19th century Victorian era papier mache cigar case or caddy, elegant mother of pearl inlay, ornate monogram and pristine original fitted interior! What a beauty! One for the papier mache or cigar/tobacciana collectors out there for sure! Jet black papier mache covers front & back and both sides with delicate scrolling mother of pearl inlays, the front with a large 'F.B.' monogram and the rear panel with a mop floral bouquet! The inside is lined and fitted in blue leather & silk, original cigar pockets on each side and expanding baffles. A wonderful decorative piece!
Very good condition! There is a tiny piece of the mother of pearl inlay missing from the back flower grouping (just at the base of the top lily's stem). A tiny chip to the lower left corner of the front. Some slight crazing to the lacquer and a bit of wear to the gilding on the bronze frame. See pictures for measurements.
