You'll instantly think "Hermes" when you see this. Yes? I've bought and sold at least 5 of these by Hermes over the years, and I can tell you this one is outstanding and certainly of same quality. We've had a couple Dupont sets, as well. Again, equal in quality. The set looks as if it's never been used. I'm guessing it was an elaborate gift to whomever JPK was. Even the fingernail tools remain. Lots of photos for your review. These originally came with canvas outer covers to keep them protected in travel. Perhaps it's been used a little, but otherwise protected. The leather is superb. The same masculine lettered monogram is embossed into the top of the leather valise. One fully expects to find "Hermes" imprinted, looking at the leather and also those clasps. Stunning, isn't it. Movie prop? Grand Tour vanity set? Some of our longtime customers buy these for their own Grand Tours. They sometimes send me photos of them from various glamorous cities of the world. I kind of love that.

Very good to excellent for age and type. These were produced from about 1930-1950s. This one is not Hermes, but it's certainly a dead-ringer for those both in look and quality. Mobito also made these (a fine cosmetics line) or rather hand them made. I always feel like it was a contract or commissioned production whose origin might well be Hermes or Dupont. Alas, it will sell far less than if that particular embossed cachet is visible. The jars are brass with black kiln-fired enamel and each have a rectangular cartouche that is 18k gold and monogrammed especially for the person to whom it belonged in its origin. Photos show it well. But it's much nicer in person. Measurements all appear on the photos.

Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
