Delightful & rare antique Victorian to Edwardian era solid European oak 8.25" cigar or cheroot presenter, box or humidor sans soaker in the form of a charming little rabbit hutch with mechanical opening lid via the cage latch on the front, press bars & hinges and a lovely little animalier style silvered bronze rabbit or hare figure crouching inside! Isn't this fabulous! Just in from France I undeniably charming. The box itself is in solid old growth European oak, no veneers here, with brass cabochon or tack accents and escutcheon, along with the cage wired facade, complete with a little hutch door whose latch opens the spring loaded lid. Slide the latch to the right and the lid pops open to a lift-out fixture that holds thirty-two cigars or cheroots with up to a 5/8" diameter and 5" length. No soaker so not literally a humidor, more storage or for presentation though a soaker could be installed easily. A wonderful decorative piece, the charm is undeniable!
Very good condition. One of the vertical cage bars, top just to the left of the door is separated from the horizontal bar but it's nailed in at the top so not going to fall off. Some bending to the 'bars'. There is a very slight bend to the lid, only really seen from the sides and the lid does close securely with the latch working just fine. See pictures for measurements.
