Charming set of smallish hand carved Black Forest shelves to flank your china hutch, mantel, or any placement. We like this size for holding a candlestick, or a small collection of carved items from the Swiss carvers. Or to under-hang your beautiful display plates. I've used them in bathrooms, to stack hand towels or vanity items up top. There are a myriad of ways to put them to use. This set features a couple of young stags (bucks) with antlers, facing or facing away, however you wish to hang them. The are 10" tall, 9" widest and the shelf top is 4.5" deep.
Very good to excellent, dating c.1880-1910, and showing age but no chips or breaks. One little rough spot that shows up on the photo at a light unstained wood spot, left facing stag, to his right at ear level. One antler on that stag is also chipped away. These look like Roe Buck based on the antlers. Wonderful net-gothic leaning back plaques on these.
