Fabulous antique Coalport 8 3/8" decorative cabinet or fish plate, a single made for Bailey, Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia with elegant cobalt blue & raised gold encrusted border including conch or seashells and unique sea turtles! A single, yes, but isn't this one simply gorgeous! Rare with the aquatic theme! Nothing over powering and, in fact, you might miss the figures if you weren't looking for them but the white medallions around the border each have two sea turtles in raised gold enamel and there are three unique seashells in the cobalt areas. Lovely. One of an original fish service set we think and a marvelous decorative accent as it is. Rare theme, don't miss it!
Very good to excellent condition. No chips, cracks, damage or repairs to note. There is some visible crazing to the clear glaze (most visible on back, see the enlarged pics of the maker marks) and in the top white center of the plate. There may be a very slight utensil mark or two in the top center white area (all of us collectors know that a utensil mark or two are to be expected in these 100+ year old dishes). See pictures for measurements.
