Fabulous! This one is all original, complete with the original 19th century glassware in fine condition throughout, and the bear is magnificent! I found this one in France and have been planning to keep him for my own collection, but it seems we have no more room to display one more of these gorgeous old 19th century carved treasures. Until I find a place, he's up for grabs. Don't leave me with him too long.
A superb large bull bear, on his own he stands about 10" and with decanter in place it's a full 12" in height. Exquisitely carved, wonderful anatomical Animalier movement study of our favorite Black Forest subject. He has painted mouth and glass eyes, and I am unable to find a single chip or imperfection. There are all 6 mouth-blown French or Czech (perhaps Moser) cups, no chips or cracks on any of them. One has a little bit of whitish film inside, though I was able to scrub most of it out so I'm confident it does come out. I'll work on it a bit more, but even as it is, very light and is not "sick glass" but some coating or other. The decanter is fabulous, too. It is the original and fits the opening perfectly, plus it's a flat-bottom decanter which is rather unique and is sturdier on surface in use. Whether you use him or display him or both, I am certain this will become your favorite bear ever. Full measurements noted on our photos. He's large!
