Fabulous detail in the carving, trim. And it works. A miniature spinning wheel, we don't know if it was made as an apprentice's project, a doll house furniture piece, or a salesman's sample. It's beautifully crafted, however, and dates early to mid-1800s, give or take 10 years. Charming for display. Photos show it all. The wheel does turn when you run the foot pedal. We have listed another one, probably 50 years newer, and sold separately. Look for that one, too.
Measurements: 12" high; 5.5" x 4.5" base measurements (legs surface)
Very good to excellent condition, it even works. When you push the pedal on bottom, the wheel turns, though you will need to add a string. Missing the upright stick that would extend its height about 8 more inches, and upon which a skein of raw wool would rest (or flax) to be spun into yarn. A few of the trim bits or dangles lost to the ages. Look at our images to see those. I don't see any holes that would indicate any other functional parts gone missing. One tiny chip to raised trim on the large wheel, visible at about 10 c'clock position on the image spread that also shows measurements. Otherwise, I see no chips or breaks, no damage to report. Entirely made of wood. Charming!
Our photos are large and clear. We do expect our customers to review them all, evaluate the item based on both our description and our images. Thanks for all the compliments - we love what we do! Antiques & Uncommon Treasure - all the best, all the time!
