Fine antique to vintage French vermeil 18k gold on sterling silver 4" champagne timbale or footed drinking vessel, tumbler, in wonderful condition! In the French tradition, this is actually a cup for champagne, tall & slender with footed base and virtually dripping in what is surely 18k gold. The piece bears the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within the mark means it's .950 silver under the gold (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Tetard Freres, Paris from 1903. One of four antique French vermeil pieces that we're adding this week, be sure to take a look at the others while you're with us. They make fabulous decorative accents in addition to elegant serving pieces!
Very good condition. A small/slight bend to one side of the base but, as you can see, it's in superb shape otherwise. No signs of loss or wear to the gold plating. See pictures for weight and measurements.
