This would have once been included in a larger grouping of matching sewing tools, implements, and those housed in a fine old French box. You know the type and the look. In fact, we’re adding a superb and RARE 13pc set this week also so be sure to take a look at them while you’re with us. From the Palais Royal boutiques, this one not having the telltale pansy mark but a fine piece nonetheless and priced accordingly. The old Palais Royal sewing sets were popular between 1750-1830s, with this type of mark, and remain widely prized today. We've had complete cases go well above $5000, and the very large fitted 'necessaries' that include more than just sewing items can exceed $50,000, depending on what all the sets have inside and how well the many layered bits have survived. So this small needle case has a champion pedigree and is sure to appeal to those who are seasoned collectors.
Good-very good condition. No exterior damage as you can see but there is chipping to the inside lip that slides into the lid (seen in the images). See pictures for measurements.
