Fine vintage French sterling silver 8 1/4" wide ecuelle, bowl or tureen style serving dish, COMPLETE with original lid and in pristine condition! A beautiful piece! The lid top and finial with a lotus style motif. Both lid and dish as near pristine as could be. The dish is 8 1/4" wide with the handles, the bowl has an 6" diameter and the piece, with lid, stands 4 5/8" tall. Lid and bowl bear the French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, the tiny number "1" within those marks means they're all in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). The silversmith marks are for Salomon Seinques, Paris circa 1927. Literally translated from French, ecuelle means 'drinking bowl', which would make sense of the wide side handles that would make it easy to pick up and sip from. Of course we wouldn't dream of sipping from it at the formal dining table but who is to know when you're alone :). Spoil yourself!
Very good condition. No dimples, dents, damage or repairs to note. See pictures for weight and measurements..
