Isaac, is that shown in this fabulous 1700s to earliest 1800s hand embroidered tapestry or sampler. But the scene is so pleasing, one need not even consider it Biblical but just a pastoral view. The chenille work on this particular sampler is fabulous!
Yes, the old silk has some flaws, but that is almost always the case on these and even museum hung samplers show such flaws. One might do restoration from behind, perhaps by a surface re-mounting with cloth adhesive, but we'll leave that to the next owner. The fine old original frame is also a valuable antique, and with exception of the one roundel which appears to be a replacement (needs to be gilded), It does appear quite good - view our photos, please.
