Elegant antique French Napoleon III era 24pc dinner or table knife set, a 2pc service for TWELVE with highly ornate floral & Empire or Classical acanthus pattern and original 'Paris' marked steel blades! A complete service for twelve in both the larger 9 3/4" dinner size and medium 8" luncheon or dessert sized knives. Hallmarked French sterling silver handles, all with the French Minerve or Minerva designating .950 silver content (higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). Silversmith marks are there but too small or not complete enough to be legible to me (surely Paris, mid 1800s). All with the original steel blades, all marked "Paris". A gorgeous set, great alongside other Classical, Empire and floral patterns and sure to impress!
Good-very good condition. There is visible 'dimpling' to the silver handles. No other damage to the larger knives but three of the smaller knives do have flaws, two with separation space between the handle and the blade and one with a split in the silver. A few with pushes to the tips of the silver handles. Some age tarnish and/or corrosion to the steel blades. See pictures for measurements.
