Here is a wonderful small French etui complete with the original glass vial or flask inside that would have been filled with scented oils and used like a vinaigrette, to mask the odors of the world at large before modern hygeine. Sterling silver pique set into rich chocolate colored shell, it's typical of those from 1780 - 1830, and falls short of excellent only due to the tiny chip in the vial's rim (glass flask) and the missing tiny bouchon or stopper. One can easily replace that, or leave it just as it is. A superb treasure worthy of a museum collection, or of your own.
Very good condition, as noted above.
