This stunning ring is dated 1971 and is one of the Space Series rings designed by the renowned artist Bjorn Weckstrom for Lapponia of Finland.
Almost as if suspended in another dimension two people arms out but touching each to the other wade through the unknown as if caught in a tide, struggling to keep their balance below whilst everything is almost in suspended animation above...
This piece looks quite different from every angle. To me perhaps one of the people is a man the other a woman...but they are abstractions of people without faces so you are left to your own imagination to decide what you see.
It is beautiful to look at and very inspirational.
This is a large ring as you can see in the photographs. It sides approximately 1 1/4" wide along the finger and rises around 9/16" high off the hand (31mm, 14mm).
Inside the shank is a full set of Finnish marks.
It is a size 6 1/4 US.
This superb piece is almost 50 years old and is not new. There is some patina to the silver including brighter silver areas amidst oxidized sections of silver. It presents well and has no repairs or damage. I would advise against polishing this piece to look new, the patina of the silver adds an extra dimension and is part and parcel of this rare vintage designer ring.
We shall ship in a presentation box ready for gifting and for safe keeping.
The photos form part of the description of this space age ring.
