This amazing ring designed and made in 1969 as man was making his first landing on the moon is the creation of one of Lapponia of Finland's leading designers Bjorn Weckstrom. It is in perfect condition.
The design of the overhanging cliff with a partially submerged adventurer looking out from underneath really captures the sense of the unknown that man was venturing into going to the moon. It's about insurmountable odds, determination, intrepid adventure and exploration.
What makes this particular ring so special is that it was produced in 1969 and not later. On the 20th July 1969 man landed on the moon. These rings rare as they are continued production until a few years after this but this particular ring is like a first edition book one of the original production of this rare design.
These space series rings became a real collectors item at this time as there was an exhibition of this series held which the Beatles attended.
It's a statement style ring. The top of the ring itself measures1 1/8" long by 13/16" wide by 9/16" tall (29mm x 21mm x 15mm).
Inside the ring there are the full Lapponia Finland marks and the year mark for Q7 which is 1969.
Currently this ring is a size 5 7/8 to 6 US. It can be resized up to any size required which is larger than this and down to around a size 5 US.
It will be sent in a presentation box ready for gifting.
