For sale is a charming and rather rare piece of 19th century folk art. It is a pen wipe that is made of 1 layer of red and 3 layers of brown felt with 5 black leather mice attached. The mice have quite large ears and black glass bead eyes. There is a little red ribbon bow on top as well. The pen wipe measures about 5" in diameter, and each of the mice is about 3/4" long and 1/2" tall. The piece is in nice, but definitely antique condition, with signs of much use on the inner layers, and a couple of holes and a rip on top. The mice show age, with expected and appropriate wear. In addition, a bit of fabric glue has been used to keep them standing upright, barely worth noting, but mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a wonderful and unique addition to your folk art collection!
