For sale is a wonderful, and I believe, quite rare articulated teddy bear that I found at a large antique expo in Portland, Oregon. In my research, I found that this type of 2-tone fur bear is called a Harlequin bear, and most date to the 1920's. If anyone knows any more about this type of bear, I would appreciate any additional information. It is made of yellow and white mohair, with white wool felt pads, glass eyes, and black wool yarn embroidered nose and mouth. It is stuffed with excelsior. The bear measures about 18" x 9" paw to paw, and is in rather well-loved vintage condition, with damage to the left paw exposing the excelsior, an only partial left ear, wear to the foot pads, and a small hole on the back of its head. The embroidered mouth is also somewhat loose. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a wonderful and rare addition to your teddy bear collection!
