Albion Valley Folk Art and Antiques
is now SOLDFor sale is a fabulous vintage ca. 1960 Lancaster County, Pennsylvania folk art chicken pin cushion whimsy that I recently acquired from a seller in PA. It was made by Fannie Gottshall, 1891-1976, who lived in Reinholds, PA. Her sister, Hattie Brunner, sold her work in her antique shop, called "The Tulip Shop". The piece is made of purple and white toile cotton jersey, has black button eyes, and folded red seam tape waddle and comb. I believe it is stuffed with rags. The chicken sits on a red painted wooden base, and measures about 7 1/2" tall, 8 1/2" long, and 2" wide. It is in very nice vintage condition, with just very minor age-related surface dirt, and just a small seam separation in the middle of its back. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a terrific addition to your folk art chicken or pin cushion collection!
