For sale is a 19th century super primitive knife box/cutlery tray in original putty and black paint that came from southeastern Pennsylvania. Most of the piece is painted in putty colored paint, but the top of the handle, the edges, and the bottom have black paint over the putty paint. It is constructed with several sizes of old nails, and the canted sides are butt jointed. The piece measures about 13" long, 7" wide, and 5 3/8" tall including the handle. It is in primitive, but very solid condition, with significant wear and surface grime. In addition, there are 2 holes on one of the long sides that appear to be intentional, but I don't know what their use might have been. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What an awesome addition to your primitive farm kitchen decor!
