For sale is a charming vintage folk art miniature blanket chest. I don't know the exact age, but would probably date it to the 1940's-50's. It is painted pale blue, and has hand painted Pennsylvania Dutch designs on the front, sides, and lid. The piece also has a nice scalloped apron on all 4 sides that add to its decorative appeal. It has a metal latch and keyhole on the front, but there is no key, so it can't be locked. The box measures about 8 1/2" long, 4" tall, and 5" wide. It is in nice vintage condition, with nice craquelure, and expected and appropriate age related paint wear, especially on the lid. There is also a hard clear red substance on the interior bottom, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. I didn't want to try to remove it for fear of damaging the piece. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a great way to store your tiny treasures!
