For sale is a charming and diminutive antique painting of a beautiful young maiden sitting in an upholstered chair holding a basket of roses. I purchased it from a seller in Montana. Although the young woman is dressed in 18th century attire, I believe the painting dates to sometime in the 19th century. The piece is also signed vertically above the back of the chair, although I can't completely make out what it says. The piece is housed in what I believe is its original brass frame partially covered in velvet with convex glass. The framed painting measures about 5 1/2" tall including the bow at the top and 3 3/4" wide. Sight measurements are about 3 1/4" x 2 1/2". The piece is in nice antique condition, with definite and appropriate signs of age, but no major issues. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description, and be sure to ask any questions. What a sweet addition to your cottage Victorian decor!
