The very popular books written by Laura Ingalls WIlder in the 1930's & 40's, inspired the popular 1970's TV show 'Little House on the Prairie', which was based on the life of the author who spent her childhood in a settler & pioneer family. So, as with so many TV shows, fashion trends quickly followed, and voila, the PRAIRIE style was born and became the favorite of just about all the ladies, from the Hippies, to the Prom-going young ladies to the square-dancers to the Wild West Cowgirls.
Dresses & skirts are typically FULL and made of 'country' fabrics of denim or flowered calico, as is this dress...a lovely flowered lavender and pink; a perky little collar and gathered shoulder-yoke give way to the bodice and elastic waistline; the 3/4-length sleeves are nicely gathered at the shoulder, as well, and cuffed at the bottom. The skirt falls to about mid-shin length. The cute apron is just perfect for the Prairie affect, as is of course, the Prairie hat---made of a complementary-patterned fabric, not the same as the dress, but looks great together!!
The size in the dress is as girl's 12, with the following measurements:
Waist 23" expanding to about 34"
34"-35" Bustline, underarm-to-underarm
44" Length, shoulder to hemline
This darling Girl's Prairie Ensemble is in EXCELLENT Condition with no issues whatsoever!!
Typical VINTAGE/ANTIQUE Condition and wear.
