Two Vintage Miniature Teddy Bears, Mohair Squeakers C.1920. These two miniature bears are 5” tall, were made in Japan in the 1920s and have squeaker mechanisms in their bellies. After all these years, Mr. Silver Bear still squeaks but his brother doesn’t.
Each bear has long mohair over a somewhat hard body. One is Silver-gray in color, the other is a Rusty-brown color. They have glass eyes, a flat glass nose and jointed limbs with light tan colored felt pads on the bottoms of their feet. Both of these delightful fellows have their original 1920s neck ribbon with bow. From the beautiful condition of their long mohair, the ribbons and bows around their necks and the pristine pads on their feet, I would venture to guess that soon after finding a home, they were carefully wrapped and stored away only to be opened fairly recently.
SIZE: 5” tall.
MARKS: None apparent.
CONDITION: Very Good. Both bears have loose limbs from aging string but the Silver bear has survived better than his brother. The Rusty-brown bear no longer squeaks.
