What a quirky little face, and so appealing. You don't see the French clowns often. I looked up his mark, which is a very skimpy stylized anchor with LC in it, and there were two companies that bore such a symbol. Both with SFBJ.
The red and white silk dominoe outfit he is wearing is over the original outfit and is an exact copy. His wig seems original, but I am not certain. I can feel that his body is long waisted, which many of the smaller, later French dolls had. It is heavy, so it could be composition over wood. His little Dominoe outfit is sewn on. His hat is half as tall as he is, and he has the original mesh socks and mesh mitts on his hands. All he needs is a brass hoop and a little dog to jump through it.
I forgot to take a photo of his shiny black paper shoes with the silver buckles! I came back to my listing to add the photo and Ruby Lane's already got the photos for processing. They don't waste any time. I'll post them later.
Please ask any questions. I'm always glad to answer. Thank you for stopping by.
If I love it, I hope you will too.
