Two wonderful Homer Conant illustrations, probably taken out of 'Theatre' Magazine in the 1920s. December 20, 1925, to be exact. So these costumes are not for Halloween but probably were for New Year's. But orange and black... (that program? The new black is orange?) definitely bespeaks Halloween. The prints are typical Conant whimsy are in excellent shape. The colors are vivid and the images are beautiful. The prints would be lovely displayed all year round but they would make for an elegant Halloween. Someone put them in these mats and have kept them there a long time. They just need frames. Prints are 9x6. With the black matting, 13x16. They are sold as a pair.

Not much is known about Homer Conant, as I can find. There sure should be, especially when you look at the list of early silent films and Broadway plays he designed for. I have a list of the films and plays, should you be interested. It would be neat to see if You Tube is airing any of the films. Conant designed costumes for ALL of these films and Broadway plays, and he did some of the scene designs, so he must have been a mural painter or something like that. I'm not done looking him up. There has to be more.

Meantime--enjoy the prints. No damage, no smells, no nothing. Just beauty. Thank you for stopping by. Please ask any questions. Here are a list of the productions he designed for: (busy guy!)
