I couldn't find any reason in the world why this doll is called, 'Baby Bud'. No movie star lived by that name (that I could find out), no comic strip character, no popular storybook character. There's nothing he does to warrant the name 'Bud'. He's a baby and his name is 'Bud' and that's it. That impish face tells us he's good natured, and has a roguish sense of humor. And the fact that he runs around without britches or a diaper, well... He is from a rather relaxed household.
Many German doll companies made such dolls. I can't attribute which doll company made this 'Baby Bud'--whose arms move, btw. The rest of him is immoble. Some of these dolls were made in Japan--marked 'Nippon'. But this Baby Bud was made in Germany--'Germany' is clearly marked along the edge of his shirt on the right side. He's more than likely from the late teens to early 20s--depending on when we were back in business with dolls from Germany after WWI.
There is no damage. He was a little dusty, but I bathed him for you. Like most rowdy boys, he protested. He is 4" of pluck and attitude--adding a bit of charm to any doll collection. Shipping is FREE on this fella. Thank you for stopping by. Please ask any questions. I'm happy to answer.
