This girl--unlike the doll I posted earlier in the red dress--sits beautifully. In fact, her lovely, original dress is fragile so I don't put her on a stand for fear the metal ends will tear it. She seems fine with sitting. Her clothing is sewn onto her, but I did snip the few threads of her bodice to show you her lovely shoulder plate. She is covered with a stockinette top under the dress---no doubt put on to keep her body sturdy. It's rather bent and somewhat misshapen through years of holding up a heavy shoulder head.

She's 26" tall, with gentle expression, and is sometimes referred to as a 'pumpkin head' due to the shape of her squash-like hair do. The condition of her face is as if she was painted yesterday. No crazing or cracking, her eyelashes are beautifully executed. The red lines over her eyelids are still bright red. Her lips are rosy and well formed and her amazing coiffure is uncracked or chipped. A black ribbon is painted in her hair. The wax is intact everywhere. There is an indent to her left cheek, done in the making. Her surface is not perfectly smooth in making. Her hands and feet/legs are made of wood attached to a cotton muslin body. The legs have extra fabric wrapped around them to keep them on the body.

She is an exemplary doll from the 1880s.
