Most collectors do it--find a doll that we will one day restore. One day never came for me or this poor child. Hopefully, someone else can make this doll what it should be. Circa 1910-1920, the doll's head has no damage. The body looks to be a blend of parts--possibly made this way or done later. The stringing seems newer to me. The original mohair wig--long gone now--was glued down to her head, which is what was often done to dolls then. This can be soaked away, if you're careful not to get the inside of the head wet. Her brown eyes sleep and still have the original wax and plaster set in her head.
I have her head filled with tissue to make sure the lead weight doesn't swing, so her eyes make her look a little drugged at the moment.
Even with her inconsistencies, the price is right. She's still a sweet antique doll worthy of your attention--a great doll for a beginner collector who wants to try her hands at wigging and dressing. Thank you for checking in at my shop. Please ask any questions.
