This is such a pretty color--unusual, I think for a doll's dress. It is not an antique dress but it was made for an antique, composition bodied toddler doll of the nineteen-teens or twenties. The dimensions are just right for that. I think, too, that it would look nice on a 20s Mama type doll or even the right vintage cloth doll. The machine embroidered collar takes up most of the front of the dress--it's huge and it's very pretty. I think the 3 photo combination shows you, most accurately, the color of the dress. With these dark, rainy days, I have no natural light in which to take pictures.
This is all machine sewn, except--it seems--the tucks on the skirt. Whoever the seamstress was, she paid attention to details. I love the three tucks in the skirt and the wonderful banding on the cuffs. The dress closes in back with two hooks into loops of thread--also coral. It is the low waisted style of frock that children wore in the nineteen-teens. I can't say how old the dress is, but definitely very vintage and beautifully made. There are 3 small spots on the collar and on the skirt as well. Very tiny, and I took photos of them.
Dimensions are, lying flat: 13" long and 9" wide at the widest part, which is about the chest area. The collar alone is 5" long and covers both shoulders. Neck to waist is 8" and waist to hem is 5" Sleeves are 7" long and the openings are about 2.5" . Good for nice, chubby composition hands. The neck opens about 6" to 6.5" around--suitable for a bisque headed doll's neck. If there are any measurements that I've over looked, please let me know and I'll gladly measure for you.
