When I first put eyes on this object I thought it looked like the grille to a car. It's made of steel. My next thought was, is it a flask? Thinking frat boys. Then I realized it was a hot water bottle, albeit it's not a 'bottle'. A hot water warmer. You fill it with hot water (or mulled brandy, if you're so inclined. You would need one heckuva straw) then strap it around your waist to warm your back or your chest/stomach area while you watch the football game or sit in your deer blind or in your ice fishing house. The warmer curves so it can fit snugly around your middle. There are slits in the back for a belt to be threaded through and worn under your shirt.
I looked up 'Stabil' online and determined that it is a German company that made industrial items, and things like this. The warmer is 12.5" long by 8.5" wide and 1" deep, so it's a shallow thing.
Condition is wonderful, except for some scuffs on either end and dents in the polished chrome back. There is no belt with it, but one could be easily found. It probably had a slender leather belt made in the lines of an old camera strap. I'm sure a suitable belt could be found. It's ready to be put to good use, however that works out for you. A curious and--really--beautiful industrial item that could even be purely decorative.
Thank you for stopping by at my shop.
If I love it, I hope you will too.
