A large silver conch, with a natural turquoise set in silver wire frame at the center, has a belt loop in the back to slip your belt strap through. The jewelry artist hammered the conch into three levels from a heavy sheet of silver. The center level has raised puffy triangular shapes that look as if they were rays around the turquoise sun. Below them, the second layer is a puffy oval frame.
The last layer is scalloped and engraved with small vertical lines. I wore this in my 40's and 50's and can still. It is never age related or inappropriate. It is satisfying to have a piece of jewelry made and worn by Native Americans. The people's closeness to nature, respect of nature and natural resources and artistry in pottery making, textile weaving and jewelry art comes along with anything hand made by the Navajo. 3 3/4 in wide, 2 7/8 in. high. Belt size accommodated 1 14 in. Weight 54.4 grams
