Stunning 15 kt gold locket hasHeigh patterns of coronets set with natural pearls and coral at top and bottom of pearl scrolls. Coral is featured in a center gold frame. I often mention that pictures do not do justice to an actual piece of jewelry. This could not be more accurate. This locket steals the eye and holds fast. You cannot see that the body is bloomed, soft toned gold. The gold outlines for the coral and pearl patterns shine like diamonds.
A locket this size changes character depending on the way it is worn. On a short black ribbon it drops at the nape of the neck appearing dramatic and sexy. This is one way that Victorians wore lockets and pendants. Then, they were also worn on lengths of chain. Height 2 1/2 inches with bale. Width 1 1/2 inches. Origin is English c. 1850. Condition is marvelous. From the Glorious Antique Jewelry Collection
