HAVING TAKEN THEIR NAME FROM 'CUPID'... all things hearts and romance are appropriate for a Kewpie! In their heyday they were symbols of love and romance as depicted by Huggers dressed as Brides and Grooms and so often used as toppers on Wedding Cakes. If not for Valentine’s Day…then Mother’s Day.!
BUT…Kewpies, like other popular fetishes of the 1920s appeared everyday and everywhere throughout the home and all year long as Mascots and Good Luck Charms. So beloved a symbol, are the Rose O’Neill’s Kewpies, their uses are as varied as their popularity is enduring and far reaching.
A BRILLIANT PRESENTATION…This mint 6” Kewpie signed “O’Neill” on the feet has been mounted, whole and entire, in this beautifully constructed heart shaped pincushion…which also serves as a stunning wall decor. He wears a red ribbon harness which keeps him fixed within the heart, at which point the overall height is 10” tall. The heart, in turn, has a red ribbon loop from which the Kewpie Heart can hang. If not on the wall, then from the neck or shoulder of your favorite doll.! It could also hang on the arm of your sewing chair; or at your vanity for brooches and pins. However, it doesn't have to hang. As we have shown here, it can be posed upright on display in your cabinet. It makes for a wonderful centerpiece to your doll or Kewpie presentation.
KEWPIE AND PIN CUSHION COLLECTORS…and Cardiologists too - will enjoy this striking high quality Kewpie ephemera. Like love itself, the Kewpie is eternal and can be enjoyed anywhere and suitable at any time of the year for you to enjoy or to give as a gift.
