Rose Leaf Cut Plug Tobacco tin from P. Lorillard Co., Jersey City, N.J. The P. Lorillard Company was founded in 1760 and is the oldest tobacco company in the United States. It is also one of America's 10 oldest public companies. This tin has a hinged lid and an applied paper label. The label on the front of this tin has paper wear and soiling but still looks wonderful. The label on the back has more extensive paper loss and wear especially on the bottom right. The end sides show soiling and spotting and there is some fading on the right end side. There are also some small areas of surface oxidation on the bottom and inside but the tin remains structurally sound and the hinged lid works perfectly. All in all this early old tin is quite striking. It has great color, graphics and a terrific vintage look that will make it stand out when on display. If you like rare early old tobacco tins, this one is a beauty.
Circa: Turn of Century, dimensions, 6" wide x 6" tall x 3 3/4" deep.
