Pewter steam shovel (or "caterpillar") ice cream mold from E. & Company (Eppelsheimer) New York. There are no markings on this mold but it has been authenticated by an appraiser as an Eppelsheimer mold. This mold has some play in the hinge from usage and the pewter shows wear but the mold remains in very good condition. It displays especially well when it is opened. Eppelsheimer created many ice cream molds with unique designs and limited production and this steam shovel mold is a wonderful example.
