This Evans solid body Canvass Back Hen decoy is in beautiful used condition. It has its original glass eyes and a mix of original and working over-paint with a smooth body. The body shows usage and weathering wear but remains structurally sound with no damage. It has its original "EVANS DECOY" ink stamp on the bottom. The bird has wonderful lines and displays beautifully.
Circa: 1921-1934, dimensions, 17 1/2" long x 6 1/4" wide x 8 1/2" tall. It weighs 3 lbs 4 oz.
The Evans Decoy Company was established in 1927 by Walter Evans of Ladysmith, Wisconsin. Because of poor health Evans retired in 1930. The factory operations were continued by his son-in-law until 1934 when the factory was closed.
