The Curious American
is now SOLDKist Kola was introduced in the 1920's by the Citrus Products Company of Chicago. Kist Kola was a citrus flavor line of carbonated drinks including orange, grape and lemon. This sign was designed to simulate a conventional crown bottle cap with a toothed edge. It is quite large measuring in at 36" in diameter. The sign was manufactured by the Enamel Steel Sign Company of Chicago. There is usage wear on this sign with areas of paint loss, rubs, surface oxidation and denting and bends especially around the toothed bottle cap perimeter (see photos) but the painted finish is still very sharp. The colors remain bold and the graphic layout is quite impressive. Because of its large size, bottle cap design and wonderful graphic presentation this sign will make a bold and striking statement when on display. This is a very difficult advertising sign to find.
Circa: 1930's, 40's, diameter 36"
