The Curious American
is now SOLDThis Double Cola sign has considerable vintage and usage wear but still maintains its rich colorful beauty when on display. This sign has surface oxidation more heavily along the bottom, two edge tears (breaks in the metal) on each lower side, scattered words and messages scratched into the finish, bending at the corners, plus a scattering of scratches and smudges but with all of these wear and tear issues the sign remains quite dynamic. The bright colors in the sign and eye catching graphic of the Double Cola being poured from a bottle into two ice filled glasses make this sign totally pop when on display. This rare and difficult to find embossed sign is a nice larger yet manageable 28" x 20" size. Circa: 1949.
Double Cola was initially called Marvel Cola but in 1933 the name was changed to Double Cola because its new 12-ounce bottles were twice the size of other soda bottles being sold at the time. Double Cola soon became the company's flagship product.
