Unopened 8 oz. box of 'Chipso Condensed Flakes' from Proctor & Gamble. This colorful box shows vintage wear with age darkening, light soiling and edge and corner wear but remains in very good condition (see photos). The colors are bright and cheerie and the graphic lay-out and presentation are wonderful giving the box great display potential. This 8 oz box is smaller than a regular sized detergent box of that era (see last photo for size comparison). The seal has never been broken on this box and it retains its original contents.
Circa: 1930-1948, dimensions 8 1/2" tall x 6" wide x 2 1/8" deep.
'Chipso' was originally produced for commercial laundries in the 1920's but then made its way into domestic use. It was one of Proctor & Gambles best selling (if not best selling) detergents in the late 1920's through the early 1940's. When Tide was introduced in 1946 Chipso sales started to decline and the product soon became history as housewives took to the new "Tide" detergent.
