Small 1/4 lb litho 'Yellow Bonnet Coffee tin (with white label) from the Springfield Grocery Company, Springfield, Missouri. Yellow Bonnet coffee was first introduced by the Springfield Grocer Company in the early 1920's. This tin has vintage wear with small litho scratches, rubs, age darkening on the lower back side and the lady has a spot on her cheek but overall this is still a very beautiful and striking little tin. It has wonderful graphics and presentation on a white back ground. Both the bottom and top of the tin have a nice clean aged patina.
Almost all of Yellow Bonnet coffee cans have a red background. This small 1/4 lb. coffee with a white background was first introduced in November 1925. Springfield Grocery Company's advertisements for the introduction of this smaller size can stated " the new Yellow Bonnet Coffee is packed in a white enamel can with a young lady arrayed in a yellow bonnet prominently displayed in several colors..." This can was only on the market from 1925 to approximately 1930. Its limited time in production and scarcity as a collectible today indicates it was not likely very successful. Dimensions, 2 5/8" tall x 3" diameter.
