Very rare larger 9 3/4" tall "Jack in the Beanstalk" chocolate mold manufactured by Sommet. Sommet was an early manufacturer of chocolate and ice cream molds from Paris, France. The company was established in 1882. Sommet's trademark was a "dancing dolphin" reminiscent of a renaissance stylized dolphin. In the last photo you can see the face of the dancing dolphin and part of his long "S" shaped body. The fan shaped tail of the dolphin has mostly been worn away. Below the dancing dolphin there is the marking "1 L" (1 liter) and below the "1 L" is the mold number "1810". This mold shows considerable usage wear. There are nicks, scratches, rough areas and also darkening from age but the mold remains structurally sound and the aged patina shows very nicely. This early and rare mold has wonderful detail and the unusual and delightful subject matter gives it great character. This is one of the more unique and interesting chocolate molds we have ever offered for sale. It comes with two old bar clips.
Circa: turn of century, dimensions 9 3/4" tall x 5 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" deep at the base.
