Charming antique Georgian inscribed 1772 mourning brooch pin set with a hardstone cameo surrounded by seed pearls & garnets They may be paste. The seed pearls have the meaning of tears for the lost loved one. Behind the lens at the rear is brown braided mourning hair. The brooch is made from 9ct yellow gold tested as there are no gold marks. The hardstone cameo vase in good order but there is a chip to the border edge .Not seen just looking. All the edging stones present & in good order see pictures. Good c clasp & pin. The brooch is inscribed to the rear edge 'Eliz Dymoke 10 Sept 1772'. May be a childs pin very small at 1/2 by 3/4. Fabulous for all the work that is in this tiny pin and dated so old.
